~ MOD EVENT 2000 ~ - August 17, 2000

Mod Event 2000, was the most successful mod day yet. We ended up with 18 SCPOC members showing their support on a beautiful Saturday. The Event was held at Lino Sacman's home in Westminster CA. He was gracious enough to share his garage with all the attending members. Thanks Lino!

Attending members included:

Mod Event 2000 started out with Stephen and Gil cooling their engines preparing for their phenolic installs.  People started showing up around noon, bringing their cars, sharing stories and doing the normal social thing.  Lino made his infamous “Mudslide” concoction.  They were soooo good!  Also to appease our appetites, Damon whipped up some of his infamous Fiesta dip and brought the margarita fixings.  Pizza was another ‘hot’ item that brought smiles to all of our faces.

Under the watchful eye of Damon and Lino, Stephen and Gil started tearing down their intake manifolds with the grace of elephants walking on ice.  It was a long process and they were both very careful not to break fittings and to tag hoses and clean parts.  There was some glitches on Stephen’s car, witch made for a lengthy install. But all in all he was very happy when it was all done and they were no left over pieces other than normal and no broken parts.  The two cars that had the phenolics installed where both great examples of clean tight looking rides. One of the most interesting comments was the ride height of the cars when they were sitting side by side. The 95 sat higher than the 93 by 1-1/2”.   Rick Triskett showed off a little 1st Gen. muscle with his white modified V6. He also shared with us his install of a high-end stereo system, which included 3 JL Audio 8” subs.  Nice job Rick.

In another part of the parking lot Jorge started working on his Blue 95 PGT fog lamps.  Along the back of the parking lot Lalo was busy modifying his intake to accept a vacuum fitting and later he modified his front running lights to a white light setup. This involved removing the front bumper assembly and with the help of JD they had that off and on in no time flat.  Great job guys it looks great!

Howard, who didn’t get a chance to install his KLZE intake, was able to take a look at a completed KLZE engine conversion by way of Armando and his 95 PGT.  I was not able to install my rear wheel cylinders due to my documentation duties (sorry 'bout that Stace!).  But that’s ok, there is always the next weekend.  Dinner came up fast and we sent a posse of probes to make a run for some fine Chinese cuisine.  I rode with Damon in Howard’s Wilwood equipped 97GTS. For fun Howard decided to show off his superior breaking ability in the middle of a 2nd to 3rd gearshift and thrust my body solidly into the seat belt restraints.  Damon in the back was unaware of the panic stop and lost his drink in the back of Howard’s car, and nearly threw him firmly into the back of my seat. Howard and I laughed so hard (hey! I did have my seatbelt on!)!  When we got back with the grub we found a new use for a 95 PGT rear spoiler.  It makes for a great serving table for a Chinese dinner.  Howard then supplied us with Celtic music by way of his fiddle. Can you see us reinstalling the phenolics to the music of the “The Irish”?

hey, i didn't know you could use the wing for that!chillin' with some margaritas!howard and his fiddle!now, how did a fiddle end up here?

Rob from Arizona was in town and joined in on the fun.  Rob is a current member of SCPOC, but is now the president of the Arizona Probe Owners Club (AzPOC). Rob was able to sneak in to Lino's garage and disassemble his driver side headlamp. This went really fast in comparison to the phenolic installs.  After tearing apart the headlamp, Greg and Rob began brainstorming about how to modify the black 94 PGT to accept the Lexus GS300 projector lights.  After a little discussion, they were satisfied enough and returned the headlamp assembly and sent Rob’s car back out into the brisk night air.  After that we started cleaning up and packing up.  It was nearing 2:30am Sunday morning and we were all tired.  Worst yet, Lalo had to take a fellow member – Jason to LAX. Lalo ended up making it to the next day’s event at Dromo One, but at the cost of no sleep.  You're a real trooper Lalo thanks for showing.

Thank you to all who showed up and supported the SCPOC.  Thank you again Lino for sharing your home and Thank you too Lalo for taking care of Jason and making it to Dromo one the same day.  Thank you God for watching over everyone and no one got hurt.  Thank you Damon for being so sweet and letting me do this write-up.
